Easter Holiday Activities

Over Easter 2024, we are thrilled to build upon the success of our Holiday Activities program. To enhance the experience for families, we have formed our holiday activities network. This network has strengthened connections with local schools, ensuring that more children in our community can join in the activities. We will be using the Eequ booking system to book HAF Easter Activities making it even easier to book your place.

But that's not all – we are reaching out to collaborate with schools beyond the ASSET network, broadening our outreach to create a more inclusive offer.

Cooking demonstration - Tuesday 9th January 2024

Holton Primary recently hosted a cooking demonstration delivered by our partners, Vertas, underscoring our ongoing commitment to promoting children's nutrition education. The event was so popular with children and school staff alike that Vertas has kindly offered to hold another day in June where they will be bringing along their Smoothie Bike, providing an interactive activity day for children to explore new ingredients and create healthy smoothies! These fun-filled days complement Holton's ongoing efforts to ensure all children have access to nutritious meals and the skills to prepare them affordably at school and home.

“The children at Holton St Peter Primary School enjoyed the cooking demonstrations from Vertas. The Key Stage One children enjoyed learning about the nutritional benefits of fruits and vegetables and were encouraged to sample the taste, texture, and smell of new foods expanding the variety of fresh fruit and vegetables in their diets. This provided a fun experience for all.

The Key Stage Two children enjoyed a live cooking demonstration on how to make beef Bolognese and took home a recipe flyer to share with their family and cook at home. At Holton, we aim to provide children with lifelong skills, and this certainly supports our vision. The children received the recipes which they now enjoy using at home. The students at Holton look forward to making Smoothies in the summer term. Thank you to Vertas for providing our children with cooking knowledge and fun!”

Volunteer Information Sessions

We are excited to introduce our Volunteer Days initiative, a unique opportunity for us to partner with our local communities in a meaningful way. We hold regular Volunteer Days information sessions, where we'll provide information about the various volunteering opportunities available in our schools and all the ways you can contribute. You can also meet some of our existing volunteers and witness firsthand how volunteering with us benefits not only our schools but also our local communities.

Our first Volunteer Days information session will be taking place on the 24th of April 2024 at  Bungay Primary and on the 25th of April at St Helen's Primary.

Please register your interest in attending our next Volunteer Days information session by emailing Ben.Gough@asseteducation.co.uk, and we’ll send you dates and joining information.

Adult education

At ASSET, we believe in the transformative power of education for everyone in our community. Recognising the importance of adult education, we are dedicated to creating opportunities for our families.

In collaboration with local adult education providers, we will be offering adult education courses and work experiences. Our adult education program is inclusive and accessible to all. From introductory courses to advanced workshops, there's something for everyone. We listen to your feedback and tailor our programs to align with the specific needs of our diverse families. Your input shapes our offerings, ensuring they are relevant, engaging, and beneficial.

We are pleased to announce we will be offering  Family Learning Courses in partnership with Realise Futures, building on the excellent work they are already doing in both Castle Hill Primary and St Helen's Primary.

We will launch this initiative with an introductory session taking place at St Helen's Primary in March. Families will be invited to a 4-hour Family Learning Festival offering an introduction to the Full Realise Futures offer and information on the available adult learning courses. These courses cover a range of areas from English, Maths, Health and Nutrition and ICT.

Realise Futures will also be offering their Travel Together Through Books Course – 10 hours over 5 sessions

This course is aimed at encouraging and giving confidence to parents/carers when they listen to children read. It is also perfect for volunteers and Teaching Assistants who listen to children read in school.

All Realise Futures sessions are structured around a variety of games, ideas and fun activities to make learning together a fun experience for all the family.
