Our Community Awards
In June 2023 we introduced our ASSET Community Awards to the annual ASSET Awards evening, to honour the work of volunteers across our school communities.
PTA/Friends Award
We had two winners for our PTFA Awards:
Stutton PTFA 'The PTFA has been re-established for this last year after not being active for a while. This year they have been really active in supporting the school and supporting strong links between the school and community. They worked with the local community association to hold a joint summer fair which was a huge success. They have led events for the children including movie nights and held a caring , sharing event in February promoting love and friendship and looking after each other. Our PTFA are always looking to involve the wider village community and work to see how events can be inclusive such as the snowman trail for the school and village. In a year, they have achieved so much."
Ruth Sparshott, Ilketshall Primary 'Ruth is a busy working mum of two boys at the school, but she is also our chair of the Friends of Ilketshall and a parent governor for the school. She gives up her time to arrange a multitude of events for the school, from Easter bingo to our annual school fete, she is on hand to arrange and run the entire event. She has a very small team so much of the burden of these events falls on her and she is selfless in the way she manages. She is also a governor so as well as taking time for the school to arrange fundraising events she also attends governor meetings and meets with me every term to discuss the SEND needs and wellbeing action in the school. Ruth is a star of all stars!'
Governor's Award
Pam Fenner, Ilketshall Primary “Pam is an absolute one of a kind who takes going above and beyond to another level. She has been our chair of governors for a number of years and she has seen the Heads of our school change twice. She has offered moral support, professional support and caring support and her understanding and knowledgeable ear has been appreciated. She is a lovely person and she is a professional individual. She chairs the governors well, advising on training, meetings and governor requirements and she is a well-known face around the school.”
Parent Partnership Award
Nick Booth, Cliff Lane Primary Our Parent Partnership Award recognises outstanding support from parents in promoting children's learning.
“We nominated Nick for giving up his time every week to come into Cliff Lane as a Dragonfly, to support teachers in hearing the bottom 20% of readers in the class. Nick also gives up his time to come on school trips, even on trips that his own children don’t attend!”
Parent Volunteer Award
Adam Bedwell and Sam Riseburgh, Bungay Primary Our Parent Volunteer Award recognises outstanding support for our school community.
“Adam and Sam completed a cold water dip everyday through the month of March to raise money for school trips for our school - Dips for School Trips. Both people took time out of their days to go for a three minute cold water dip in order to raise money for our school. They initially set a target of £250 but have raised a staggering £2145 to date.”
Community Partner Award for Individuals
Hannah Grinham, Cliff Lane Primary “Hannah has gone above and beyond in her role to support a number of children with high needs in our school when others have said no or been unable to help. She has supported me in my role as Senco to ensure that all the onward referrals for children that can be made that require a medical professionals input are made with her backing. Hannah is always willing to help and support our school and children at every opportunity.”
Louise Southgate, Shotley Primary “Louise is our Family Liaison and Attendance Officer. Back in December 2022 Louise joined the Ipswich & East Suffolk Alliance “One Team” Leadership Development Programme and is also Elsa trained and a thrive practitioner. Louise just doesn't stop as the Pastoral lead within Shotley and despite the many interruptions to her day for one reason or another she always strives to do her absolute utmost for the good of the children and the school. Louise wears a lot of hats, always going above and beyond.”
Community Partner Award for Organisations
Pepyn and Lessey, Wenhaston Primary “For over 40 years of supporting the children of Wenhaston Primary school with their education and more specifically, for supporting village children with their education. They are a village charity dedicated entirely to supporting young people in the village with their educational endeavours. They provide us a school with equipment and have supported village families with funds towards school trips, school transport, money for those who are post 16 and are starting an apprenticeship and are in need of equipment for it.”
